Snapshot: who each product is for
Cala Terminal is for self-directed investors and traders who want a real terminal on their monitors — drag, dock, and tile — plus US market-structure context: unusual options and sweeps, dark pool prints, dealer gamma exposure (GEX), max pain, open interest by strike, and Congress / STOCK Act disclosures. An AI analyst (90+ tools) fetches prices from verified feeds rather than inventing them. Fast Mode answers in seconds; Deep Mode runs a longer, visible multi-step analysis.
Terminal®, by Bursaly Group LLC, markets a web research workspace (see terminalapp.ai). Public positioning emphasizes a single-tab desk, macro/research tools, and educational product surfaces. We do not reconstruct their UI or claim feature parity we have not shipped.
Choose on job-to-be-done: if you want a docked multi-asset desk and structure data next to an AI copilot, Cala is built for that. If you prefer a browser-only research SPA and their education stack, Terminal® may fit. You decide.
An informational AI market research terminal. Market-structure and multi-asset desk. Read-only portfolio analysis. Free plan + clear Pro (web preferred). English and Spanish.
A broker or execution venue. Not investment advisory. Not buy/sell recommendations or “signals.” Not an affiliate path to open a brokerage account. Not fantasy closed-trade P&L theater.
Form factor: desktop multi-monitor vs web-first
Cala’s workspace is desktop-class: open multiple panels side by side. Dashboard + stock chart + forex + crypto can sit live in one layout — “four panels docked beats one Chrome tab.” Native apps ship for macOS (Apple Silicon), Windows, Linux, iPad (App Store), and the web. App Store rating is marketed at 5.0.
Terminal® is publicly a web application. A browser desk is convenient; it is a different shape from a multi-window terminal you keep on monitors all day. We are not claiming they cannot open multiple tabs — only that Cala’s product story is docked panels, keyboard-first navigation, and native installs.
Market structure: flow, dark pool, GEX, Congress
Cala surfaces the structure professional traders watch on US markets: dark-pool prints, unusual options activity and sweeps, dealer GEX, max pain, and per-strike open interest. The AI explains what each measure is in plain language. Data is US-only, sourced from a third-party provider (Unusual Whales), and may be delayed — context for research, not a trade ticket.
Congress and politician-trade disclosures sit on the same desk, alongside SEC filing summaries. That is the wedge: structure and data, not a packaged “idea with entry, stop, and target.”
Public Terminal® options surfaces are commonly framed around calculators and Greeks rather than a flow / dark pool / GEX narrative. If you are comparing, read their live site — product pages change. Cala’s own guides: dark pool prints and GEX explained.
Broker stance: read-only analysis, no affiliate funnel
Cala can optionally connect a brokerage account read-only (SnapTrade — 25 brokerages + 3 crypto, as marketed) so you can analyze the book you already have: risk context such as volatility, drawdown, Sharpe / Sortino, sector vs SPY. There is no order path in the app. We do not get paid when you trade more. We never push a broker.
Some research apps monetize through broker affiliates or volume-gated “free Pro” paths. Cala does not. We will not name counterparties or copy those funnels. If you already have a brokerage, keep it — Cala is for viewing and analysis only.
Ideas & compliance: structure and data, not a copy desk
Cala does not sell a strategy feed as the product. Packaged cards with entry, stop, and target are easy to over-read. We show flow, prints, GEX, and disclosures so you can do your own work. Deep Mode shows tool steps so you can audit the path. “You decide. We surface structure and data.”
We do not publish win rates or simulated closed-trade P&L as social proof. We do not quote competitor Terms here (those documents are theirs to host, and they change). Read any third-party disclaimer on their own site before you treat a packaged “idea” as research.

When Terminal® may fit vs when Cala fits
Cala is a consumer-priced AI research + structure terminal — not a Bloomberg replacement, not TradingView, not a copy-trading desk. For the institutional comparison see Cala vs Bloomberg Terminal.
You want a browser-only research desk, their macro/education product, and you are already comfortable in that workspace. Judge them on their current site — not on this page.
You want docked panels on Mac or Windows, US options flow / dark pool / GEX / Congress on one desk, read-only analysis of holdings you already have, and a Free plan plus a separate Pro trial at consumer web pricing.
FAQ
